Professional Highlights

I have managed teams from one to 30+ associates.  Highlights include:

An Interim Services Provider. Projects have included (1) serving as subject matter expert and work flow coordinator for one of the largest independent accounting and consulting firms in the U. S. involved in a national home builder bankruptcy proceeding (2) pre-bankruptcy filing guidance to a national developer facing refinancing challenges and (3) liquidity analysis and lender negotiations for a small custom home builder attempting to restructure debt and equity.

Vice President Mergers and Acquisitions for K. Hovnanian, a publicly traded home builder consistently ranking 6th on the Builder 100 list. We studied literally hundreds of home builders, closed on three, ranging in size from 200 to 2,800 units annually, and also closed on the acquisition of two trade partner organizations during my tenure as VP Mergers and Acquisitions, which ended with the industry decline in 2006.

Region Vice President Finance for K. Hovnanian’s Southern California Coastal Region and Richmond American Homes’ Colorado Region.  The Colorado Region of Richmond American Homes closed 2,750+ homes annually with a region finance department of 30 associates.  Key successes in the Region VP Finance role include restructuring a fragmented region finance team that had turned over three Region VP’s in the 18 months prior to my joining the team.

Chief Financial Officer for Neumann Homes, Inc., a “driven to excellence”, rapidly growing private home builder in the Chicago, Illinois area.  Key successes include building a strong finance team, reducing credit facility fees by 67%, and negotiating and securing over $300 million in credit facilities.

Senior Vice President and President, Real Estate Division for IFS Financial Services, a holding company owning various entities including a title agency, land development joint ventures, a property management company, the then largest privately held mortgage origination company in the U.S. ($11 billion servicing), and an insurance company. Key accomplishments include restructuring the title agency from a money losing entity to a profitable one, enabling a profitable sale of the company, and negotiating the deal points and coordinating the closing of 16 fast food restaurants in California and Texas.

Chief Financial Officer for David Weekley Homes, a private home builder consistently ranking in the top 25 on the Builder 100 list.  Key accomplishments include being instrumental in this company’s growth from $10 million to almost $200 million, expanding from one city to five, during my 8 ½ year tenure in the company’s early formation years.
